CEP 840 - Teaching Exceptional Children & Youth in the General Education Classroom
Instructor: S. Peters

This course was the basic course for the special education concentration of the MAED program.  It began with the basics of special education, learning about IEP's and legal requirements for special education students.  Throughout the course, symptoms and characteristics of various special education disabilities were studied along with teaching strategies for working with those students.  The final project in this course was to identify a problem of practice I've experienced as a teacher, analyze the causes and/or effects of the problem, and develop a plan of action to rectify the problems.

CEP 841 - Classroom Management in Inclusive Classrooms
Instructor: C. Courtad

This course was the first in my degree program.  In the class, we learned about many behavior disorders that are common in children and ways to prevent discipline issues for those children.  We studied many accomodations and strategies that can be used to create a successful learning environment for all students.  During the class, each student presented a professional development presentation on issues that we had studied.  I created a slideshow presentation taking a look at common behavior disorders and suggestions for how to teach students with those issues.
